Malebria - Alpha - v0.4.1
Malebria Alpha v0.4.1 is live, containing the upgrade rooms I promised. But that's not all. I took a little longer on this update in order to add an entirely new feature to the game: Armor. Elites now have armor which provides an additional challenge whilst fighting elites so that they are not as simple to take down as other enemies. This will be even more readily apparent in my next update, which will contain both the elites and boss for the Sullen Plains. I expect this update to come out around the end of May, perhaps slightly earlier, as I am now out of school for the summer. Alpha 0.4.1 also comes with a swathe of bug fixes and QoL improvements, and I have even more slated for v0.4.2. The full list of changes is below:
- Made gameplay and content changes:
- Added 3 Upgrade Rooms to the Sullen Plains.
- Added armor to elites, which acts sort of like overhealth. While an enemy’s armor is still active, it does not get stunned or knocked back when hit.
- Enemies stunned after armor breaks.
- Enemies stunned for a longer time upon being hit, but cannot be stunned again for 2s afterward.
- Replaced the walls of the Sullen Plains rooms with “transparent” barriers, which are barriers that the enemy can target the player through. The bases of trees are another example of transparent barriers.
- Bug fixes and QoL improvements:
- Added a confirmation window to the “Abandon Run” button to mitigate accidental run abandonment.
- Last enemy indicator now fades as you approach the enemy.
- Greatly improved accuracy of last enemy indicator.
- Fixed issue where files would not successfully load if they had already been loaded during a game session.
- Fixed issue where a second, unwanted load prompt would show up when deleting or unsuccessfully loading save file 1.
- Fixed issue with text overlaying in the save file menu.
- Modified the demo completion message to be more accurate.
v0.4.2 should be coming relatively soon, containing the remainder of the new content for the second region. The expected release window was extended a bit because I didn't anticipate wanting to add the new feature of armor. I am also planning the addition of the character I mentioned in my previous devlog into v0.4.2, so that is why I expect it to come about towards the end of this month instead of the original projected release of some time in April. I know this is another delay, but unlike the previous ones, I am doing this delay so that I can add more content. Thank you all for your interest; enjoy your summer!
