Malebria - Alpha - v0.3.6: New Character!
Malebria Alpha v0.3.6 is now live, and with it come some major changes. Most importantly, I added a new character, "Noreus, The Stormbringer". Now, I wanted this character to be ranged, but there was too much that I had to integrate properly in order for that to happen. Long story short, it was too hard and will come with later updates. I also added quite a few tiles to the Staging Ground to make sure it looked consistent and well made. As a note, the Staging Ground won't have so much empty space in the future, as I will be adding more things to interact with and giving them proper sprites. Those were the major items, then I also made many small fixes and changes to the UI. QoL changes for the gameplay within runs will be coming soon, probably next update. The full list of changes is available below:
- Added new character, "Noreus, The Stormbringer" (not available in demo).
- Added "Lightning" effect for Noreus.
- Added "Gale" effect for Noreus.
- Added a little polish to the tileset for the Staging Ground.
- Skipping an upgrade no longer locks the player out of the shop.
- Fixed the delete button not working (did not realize until late in the update cycle, sorry!).
- Fixed an issue introduced in v0.3.5 where changing the resolution would create a smaller or larger window of the game (^ same deal).
- Slightly reduced the speed of Gauvain's "Axe Throw" again (-20%).
- Slightly altered phrasing of character descriptions for clarity.
- Increased font size for metaprogression hover descriptions.
- Improved hitboxes for metaprogression hover descriptions and the subtract button in the MP screen.
- Fixed an issue with button press sound playing when not applicable.
As stated above, there are many more QoL changes to come, so those will be coming as needed in future updates. v0.3.7 will largely be focusing on balance. Ignis and Noreus are much better than the other characters at this time, so Iruq and Agyn will have their power increased accordingly. Additionally, some enemies are too easy, like the Fallen Necromancer (guy who spawns AoEs) and the Miner (slow purple square). These and others will be receiving tweaks to make them more formidable opponents. I will provide a quick update on how I will roll out new content: I will most likely not be adding another region for at least a month. It could take until October for a new region to be added. I hope I can speed up production on the content by then so that I can meet my goal of hitting v1.0.0 by Feb/March of 2023.
